asked the Secretary of State for Energy what recent consultation he has had with the chairman of the British Steel Corporation about the importing of Australian coking coal; what action he now proposes to take in the matter and if he will make a statement.

The Government are giving careful consideration to the question of coking coal imports. Relations with the British Steel Corporation are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Industry.
