HC Deb 23 July 1979 vol 971 cc66-7W
Mr. Marks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what will be the effect of Government restrictions on local authority expenditure and the change of status of Manchester and Tameside from intermediate to non-assisted areas on derelict land improvement in those areas.

Mr. King

Restrictions on local authority expenditure will not affect derelict land improvement in Manchester and Tameside in this financial year. The change of status in these areas will not take place until 1 August 1982 and until then they will therefore continue to be eligible for 100 per cent. derelict land grants. A decision on the future designation of these areas as derelict land clearance areas will be taken in due course.
