asked the Minister of Transport what is the current status of the proposed bypass road on the A303 round Bourton and Zeals; what is its priority; and what is the likely commencement date of the scheme.

A scheme for improvement of the A303 between Mere and Wincanton was added to the preparation pool in 1971. The public was consulted about possible alternative routes in 1976 and we are presently considering what kind of improvement is necessary. We hope to make an announcement

Making a false declaration in connection with a vehicle licence application. Section 26(2) Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971.
Furnishing false or misleading information when required to do so by virtue of the Vehicle (Excise) Act 1971. Section 26(2) Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971.
Failing to provide information in connection with alleged offences under sections 8, 16(7) or 18(4) of the Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971. Section 27(1) Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971.
3. Other offences
Failure to comply with certain regulations under the Act of 1971. Section 37(3) Vehicles (Excise Act 1971 as modified by para. 2 of part II of Schedule 7.
Failure to comply with a requirement to deliver up an excise licence under section 102 (payments for licence by cheque where cheque is not met). Section 102(3) of the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979.
