Mr. Maxton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he intends to maintain at their present level the advisory council on social work, the general teaching council for Scotland, governing bodies of central institutions, the Scottish certificate of education examination board, the tertiary education council, the Scottish council for research in education and the consultative committee on the curriculum.

My right hon. Friend has no proposals at present for changing the functions of these bodies, but the level of financial assistance will be kept under review in the light of the resources available and other relevant circumstances.
