Mr. Foster

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans to abolish the Development Commission; and, what would be the effects of such a proposal on industrial development in rural areas in the North of England and in Teesdale, in particular.

Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will make a statement about the future of the Development Commission.

Mr. King

The future role of the Development Commission is currently being reviewed together with that of other public bodies.
