§ Mr. Fosterasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied that the repeal of the Community Land Act will not damage industrial development in the Wear Valley district council area, in the light of the fact that the council will not now have the resources to proceed with its rolling programme of land purchase and preparation for industrial use.
§ Mr. FoxYes. Our policy is to take the shackles off industrial development. We have already removed some of the blockages to land supply caused by the Community Land Act. Wisely, like most councils, Wear Valley made no significant use of the Act.
