HL Deb 12 February 1979 vol 398 c1090WA
Lord ELTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the total value of their current Overseas Development Aid programme in each of the countries belonging to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN): what, in each case, is the proportion devoted specifically to the increase of the productivity and employment of the rural population; and what are the principal categories into which projects of the latter type fall.

Baroness LLEWELYN-DAVIES of HASTOE

In 1977, the last year for which detailed figures are available, disbursements were as follows:

In 1979, compared with 1977, there is likely to be a modest increase in the amount of United Kingdom aid for Indonesia and Thailand and a decrease for the other countries. In addition there are a number of aid trade contingency projects on offer to all these countries except Singapore.
