§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (1) if he has received the working party's report into the Arts Council; and if he will make a statement;
(2) what discussions he is having concerning the pay and grading of members of the Arts Council.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasThe working party's report, which includes such matters as pay and grading of Arts Council staff, was not addressed to me. The Arts Council is it elf taking such action as it considers appropriate. Any discussions that I have had on matters arising out of the report have so far been confined to informal conversations with the chairman of the council.
