§ Baroness MASHAM of ILTONasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether there is a shortage of medical consultants at the Duchess of Kent's Military Hospital at Catterick Garrison and what effect a shortage would have on the recognition of the hospital for higher post-graduate specialist training and also for nursing training.
§ Lord STRATHCONA and MOUNT ROYALThe Duchess of Kent's Military Hospital at Catterick has 11 posts686WA established at consultant level, of which four are unfilled at present. Civilian consultants satisfactorily cover two of the unfilled posts on a sessional basis and efforts are being made to fill one of the other posts on a permanent basis. The remaining post is to be replaced by an extra post in another specialty. The number of consultants in post is adequate to satisfy the requirement for continued recognition of the hospital for higher post-graduate specialist training and also for nursing training.
House adjourned at twenty-five minutes past eight o'clock.
