§ Miss Margaret JacksonIn January 1978 there were 9,597 pupils assessed by the 10 local education authorities in the Greater Manchester metropolitan county as suffering from a disability of mind or body and placed in special schools. It is for each local education authority to determine how best to meet the individual needs of handicapped children.
