Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what were the numbers of registrars and senior registrars employed in each area health authority at the latest available date, and the number of such posts per 10.000 population in each area.

The number—in terms of whole-time equivalents—and the ratio per 10,000 per population of registrars in post on 30th September 1977 is shown by area health authority in table A below Information on senior registrars is collected centrally only for regions and area health authorities (teaching). For this reason, tables B and C below give numbers—in terms of whole time equivalents—and the ratios per 10,000 population of senior registrars in post on 30th September 1977 by regional health authority and by area health authority (teaching) respectively:
