§ 23. Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what criteria he applies to applications to take part in the official service of remembrance of Armistice day.
§ Mr. Merlyn Rees:Such applications are rarely received. The general policy has been and continues to be to preserve the nature of the ceremony as a service of remembrance in which national homage is paid to the Commonwealth dead of both world wars by the laying of wreaths by national representatives on behalf of the United Kingdom and of all the other peoples of the Commonwealth.
