§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what proposals have been approved by the Government for a world commodities centre in London; and how much financial support the Government propose giving to this venture.
§ Mr. Luard:Ministers have so far considered without commitment. a preliminary study by officials for the establishment of a world commodities centre. Further, more detailed studies are now being undertaken in consultation with the international commodity organisations, with a view to preparing proposals on which a decision by the Government could be based. It is hoped that it will be possible to complete this process early in 1979.
The question of Government assistance will be considered in the light of these studies and of the constraints on public expenditure.
