§ Mrs. HartIn response to requests received through United Nations channels, my Disaster Unit chartered a plane and flew out medical supplies, clothing and polythene sheeting to Dacca a week ago. The total cost was some £50,000 of which £20,000 was met by members of the Disaster Emergency Committee628W including Oxfam, Christian Aid and save the Children Fund.
In addition, our High Commissioner has been authorised to offer £10,000 for the local purchase of bamboo for shelter and the Disaster Unit has arranged for more drugs, to the value of some £20,000, to be sent by commercial airline.
