asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what further proposals he has for protecting consumers from the growing practice of food processors who leave excessive amounts of water in foods like ham and fish fingers; and if he will make a statement.

The Food Standards Committee has recently completed its full review of all aspects of water in food. Its report is being printed and will be published within the next few months. On publication comments will be sought from interested organisations and individuals. Decisions on any necessary action will be taken in the light of the Committee's recommendations and comments made on them.
