§ Mr. Gerry Fowlerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied that the Prison Regulations in respect of correspondence between prisoners and their solicitors and hon. Members are not in breach of the European Convention on Human Rights.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe regulations governing correspondence between prisoners and solicitors and hon. Members are at present under consideration in connection with a number of petitions to the European Commission of Human Rights complaining that these regulations are inconsistent with the European Convention on Human Rights. I shall make a statement when the cases now before the Commission have been brought to a conclusion.
