§ Mr. Newensasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth 912W Affairs if he will take steps with the Greek and Turkish authorities to arrange for a full investigation into the murder of the British journalist Ann Chapman in Athens in 1971, following the publication by Mr. Sadi Kocas, a former Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, of new evidence on her murder, and of new information of her possession of American defence agency intelligence documents.
§ Mr. JuddInvestigations into the death of Ann Chapman are solely a matter for the Greek judicial authorities. The British Government have no standing in this case and cannot therefore request a retrial for a Greek citizen convicted in a Greek court for an offence committed in Greece.
