HC Deb 13 July 1978 vol 953 c743W
Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment which voluntary organisations receive grants from public funds for the provision of accommodation for young, single, homeless people; and how much each organisation receives.

Mr. Armstrong

Voluntary organisations receive grants and assistance from both central and local government for the provision of accommodation for single homeless people. Housing association grant—and revenue and hostel deficit grant—are payable to registered housing associations. Urban aid grant, grants from the voluntary services unit of the Home Office, and grants under section 13 of the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977 may also be payable. In addition, grants from both central and local government are available to certain voluntary organisations which specialise in providing help and support for particular groups, such as ex-prisoners, alcoholics
