Mr. Wm. Ross
asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what plans 235W he has for expanding cereal production in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. Dunn
, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 4th July 1978] gave the following information:
The Department of Agriculture in its advisory role provides information on the average returns to be gained from the different farm enterprises and, where appropriate, gives encouragement to farmers to grow cereals. It is the farmer himself, however, who exercises his agricultural and commercial judgment in deciding which enterprises he undertakes in the light of the conditions on his farm.
