§ Mr. Peter Reesasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make a statement about the Anglo-American double tax convention recently ratified by Her Majesty's Government in the light of the decision of the United States Senate.
§ Mr. Joel Barnett, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 3rd July 1978], gave the following information:
Following the recent vote of the United States Senate, which approved the United States/United Kingdom double taxation convention subject to a reservation on article 9(4), Her Majesty's Government are considering their position in relation to the convention but are not yet in a position to make a statement.
