§ Mr. Maddenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer in what circumstances the Bank of England intervenes in the affairs of limited liability companies other than banks.
§ Mr. Denzil Davies, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 3rd July 1978], gave the following information:
The Bank of England maintains regular contact with a large number of companies as part of its continuing concern with the financial situation as it affects business. Closer involvement of the bank in the affairs of individual companies with respect to their financial problems has normally been, directly or indirectly, at the initiative of companies themselves.
