HC Deb 03 July 1978 vol 953 c23W
Mr. Evelyn King

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what account was taken of the additional financial burden that would fall upon parents of sixth formers now at Lytchett Minster comprehensive school if they were required to attend a sixth form college at Poole; and what figure was arrived at before the issue of the relevant Section 13 notice.

Miss Margaret Jackson

My right hon. Friend took account of all relevant factors before deciding not to approve the proposal to change the age range of pupils for whom education is provided at Lytchett Minster school from 11–16 to 11–18.

As the school has never had a sixth form the question of additional travelling costs is hypothetical. Pupils wishing to continue their education beyond the age of 16 currently travel to Wimborne, which is further away than Poole.
