HC Deb 15 February 1978 vol 944 cc253-4W
Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any plans to ease problems experienced by solicitors in Scotland attempting to enforce aliment decrees lodged in courts in England.

Mr. Harry Ewing

I know of no particular difficulties in enforcing payment under sheriff court alimentary decrees registered in magistrates' courts in England and Wales. Difficulties might possibly arise in enforcing payment under Court of Session decrees registered in the High Court in England and Wales. The Administration of Justice Act 1977, which will come into force later this year, will ease such difficulties by providing that Court of Session decrees registered in the High Court in England and Wales may be reregistered in magistrates' courts and enforced by them.
