asked the Secretary of State for Transport what his proposals are for improving the Al27 between Gallows Corner and Southend.

Mr. Horam

As explained in my recent letter to my hon. Friend, investigations into means of improving the junctions at Rayleigh Weir and the "Fortune of War", Laindon, are in progress. A scheme for a link from the Al27 at Dunton Wayletts to the nearby Basildon industrial area is expected to start soon. A programme of small improvements to make the Al27 safer while promoting the free flow of traffic is being pursued.
