§ Mr. Merlyn ReesPrison service staff quarters have been acquired over many decades and differ widely in age, type and construction, so that their quality inevitably varies despite continuous programmes of maintenance and repair. It is my aim, in close consultation with the staff associations, to devise arrangements636W which both provide satisfactory accommodation for staff who wish to live in official quarters and recognise the wishes of those who prefer to live in their own homes.
