§ 66. Sir John Gilmourasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what information is available about the present price of smallwood forest thinnings in Scotland; and if he is satisfied that the prices being paid are sufficient to ensure proper working of support for private forestry and of Commission forests in Scotland.
§ Mr. Hugh D. BrownPrices are normally a confidential matter between timber buyers and sellers. I am aware that there has been a reduction in prices for wood, including thinnings, and that this has had some effect on harvesting. I understand, however, that there are hope of improvement later this year.
