§ Dr. Glynasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he has taken to implement some or all of the recommendations of the Briggs Committee.
§ Mr. MoyleThe Government are committed to a Bill to set up a new statutory framework of nurse education and training bodies, which was recommended by the Briggs Report (Cmnd 3155); it would be for the new bodies, once established, to consider and plan for any changes in the pattern and content of training in the light of the report's detailed recommendations. Because of the pressure of other parliamentary business, it is not now possible to introduce a Bill this Session, but the Government intend to introduce such a Bill as soon as legislative time can be found.
