§ Mr. Geoffrey Johnson Smithasked the Secretary of State for Transport, in view of the effect which large numbers of day visitors have on the total movement of traffic during the summer months and the importance to the regional economy of the tourist and leisure industry in the South-East, whether he will adopt the proposal of the Leitch Committee report that the value of such traffic be disregarded in any cost/benefit assessment.
§ Mr. William RodgersThe committee recommended that the Department should investigate further whether its present practice of applying national average traffic figures to holiday areas is appropriate. The recommendation has been accepted.
