HC Deb 12 April 1978 vol 947 cc457-8W
48. Mr. Heffer

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has had any discussions with interested bodies regarding the future of the Aintree race course; what steps he has taken to ensure the continuation of the Grand National; and what Government support for this can be expected.

Mr. Dennis Howell

I have had discussions with a number of interested parties. However, in the present circumstances I do not think it would be right for me to make any public comment, except that I share my hon. Friend's concern that a way be found of securing the future of the Grand National.
