HC Deb 07 April 1978 vol 947 cc239-40W
Mr. Mayhew

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether the estimate of £1 million as the cost of the Pembury bypass on the A21, given in the White Paper "Policy for Roads: England 1978", has been made on the basis that the bypass will have dual carriageways in each direction, or on what alternative basis.

Mr. Horam

The standard of road has not yet been decided. The estimate of £1 million is a rough order of cost based on the approximate length.

Mr. Mayhew

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will now answer the letter sent to the Under-Secretary of State on 23rd February, by the hon. and learned Member for Royal Tunbridge Wells, of which a reminder was sent on 22nd March, concerning the Pembury bypass on the A21.

Mr. Horam

I will be replying very shortly.
