§ Mr. Luard:I regret that no separate records are maintained of official help given to British motorists abroad as distinct from any other category of consular assistance to United Kingdom citizens.
§ Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Common. wealth Affairs (1) how many British motorists have been prosecuted for motor offences while driving abroad during the last 12 months for which records are available; how many of these prosecutions have resulted in convictions; and what penalties have been applied and in what countries;
848W(2) in how many cases British missions have been asked to assist British motorists abroad who have been prosecuted for motoring offences; and in which countries such assistance has been sought and given.
§ Mr. Luard:I regret that it is not the practice of our consular posts to maintain a record of prosecutions for motoring offences by British subjects within their area of responsibility or of the assistance given in such cases.
