HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c847W
Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on what date he withdrew the British Ambassador to Chile; and when he proposes to appoint a replacement.

Mr. Luard:

The last British ambassador to Chile was withdrawn on 30th December 1975 as a protest over the treatment of Dr. Sheila Cassidy, and was later assigned to other duties. My right hon. Friend continues to keep the position under review, but he has no intention of appointing a replacement at present.
