HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 cc679-80W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Lord President of the Council whether he will take action to facilitate the early retirement of hon. Members without loss of pension rights in the same manner as that now in operation for other public servants.

Mr. Foot:

The introduction of provision for early retirement into the Parliamentary Contributory Pension Scheme was the subject of a recommendation in paragraph 57 of Report No. 8 of the Review Body on Top Salaries (Cmnd. 6574). I referred to this matter during the debate on Members' salaries and pensions on 27th July, and we will be able to discuss Members' pension arrangements on the basis of that report in due course.
