HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c679W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Lord President of the Council, in view of the decision that Members of Parliament are not workers and not covered by the various legislation affecting appeals to industrial tribunals or disputes with their employers, in what way Members can process their wage and salary scales in the same way as every other employed person paying full national insurance contributions as employed persons.

Mr. Foot:

Members are able to put forward their views in the debates on Members' pay in the House.
