Mr. W. E. Garrett

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will announce the names of his nominees to the Insurance Brokers Registration Council.

Mr. Clinton Davis:

Under the powers conferred on my right hon. Friend by the Insurance Brokers (Registration) Act 1977 he is nominating the following persons to be members of the Insurance Brokers Registration Council: Mr. J. P. H. Mackay QC: Dean of the Faculty of Advocates. Mr. P. B. Milne: Partner in Lancaster Littlejohn & Co. Chartered Accountants. Mr. D. B. Lewis: Executive Editor of Money Mail (Daily Mail) . Professor R. L. Carter: Professor of Insurance Studies at the University of Nottingham. Mr. J. A. Halladay: Chairman of the Corporation of Mortgage Finance and Life Assurance Brokers. The Act specified that three of the nominations should go to a lawyer, an accountant and a policy holders' representative. These places are filled by Mr. Mackay, Mr. Milne and Mr. Lewis respectively.
