asked the Minister for Overseas Development what is being done to promote and protect fishing in the waters of the Falkland Islands and their Dependencies.

I have been asked to reply.

We keep in touch with the United Kingdom fishing industry in relation to opportunities in this area. But longer-term prospects would be linked with the establishment of a framework of economic co-operation with the Argentine Government.
