Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he intends to take to implement the recommendation of his Environmental Board that lengthy safeguarding of land for public development, including roads, should be reconsidered and reduced wherever possible to a foreseeable programme of action; and whether he will make a statement on his policy in this regard.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport and I are considering the wide implications of the recommendation.
