HC Deb 29 November 1977 vol 940 cc153-4W
Mr. Michael Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what investigation has been carried out into the new practice of static caravan owners having to buy leases as happened at Whiteford Bay Holiday Estate Limited; and what action he proposes to give static caravan owners security of tenure.

Mr. John Fraser

Although my Department has received a good many complaints from owners of holiday caravans about abuses in this area they have not so far raised the question of owners being required to buy leases. If the hon. Member has any information I shall be very willing to examine it. In the meantime I hope that the follow up work to the recent report on mobile homes will provide an opportunity for protecting the interests of holiday caravan owners as well.
