§ Mr. Crouchasked the Secretary of State for Transport what steps he is taking to ensure that roads to the Channel ports in Kent are given high priority for improvement and maintenance, bearing in mind their importance in carrying an ever-increasing amount of exports to the Continent.
§ Mr. William RodgersThe White Paper on Transport Policy emphasised that priority would be given to those routes to major ports which carry a high proportion of industrial traffic. Maintenance expenditure is guided by the condition of a road and the volume of traffic using it.
