HC Deb 10 November 1977 vol 938 cc213-4W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will arrange to meet his counterpart in the Government of the People's Republic of China to see how, together, the two Governments may strengthen their defences against the USSR.

Mr. Mulley:

No.

Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether there are any strategic reasons why the possession of the Harrier by the Government of the People's Republic of China will be considered a military disadvantage to Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Mulley:

Any request for a sale of Harriers to China would be considered, like any other request for a sale of military equipment, in the light of our international obligations and policies.
