HC Deb 09 May 1977 vol 931 cc330-1W
Mr. Ovenden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the revenue allocation to the South-East Thames Regional Health Authority for 1977–78; what sums have been allocated to each area health authority in the region; what these represent in terms of finance per head of population; and how these figures compare with the last three years.

Mr. Moyle

The revenue allocations are as follows:

in accordance with the principles recommended by the Resource Allocation Working Party, what the eventual pattern of distribution of resources within the region might be. It considered however, having regard to the Press statement made by my right hon. Friend on 21st December 1976 and to guidance given by my Department on allocations within Regions, that in 1977–78 a breathing space was needed to meet immediate commitments and make possible proper planning for the rationalisation of services in relation to need. My Department will be discussing with the RHA the effect of its decisions upon the services in the region.
