HC Deb 02 May 1977 vol 931 c16W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list all the towns and cities in the United Kingdom which have been (a) bypassed during the last 15 years and (b) given a relief road during the last 15 years.

Mr. Horam

I have been asked to reply.

Records containing this information in respect of trunk roads in England are not help centrally, nor are they in the form requested. The information could, therefore, only be provided at disproportionate cost. Moreover, many bypass and other roads and almost all town relief roads are the concern of local highway authorities.

Roads in Scotland and Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend and my right hon. and learned Friend the respective Secretaries of State.
