HL Deb 23 March 1977 vol 381 c620WA
Lord BOSTON of FAVERSHAM

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state for how long the bridge known as the glass bridge across the docks on the Isle of Dogs has been closed following repeated acts of vandalism; what steps are being taken to bring it back into operation as its closure is causing very considerable inconvenience; whether it is the case that the existence of the bridge arises from a long-established public right of way; whether its present closure could endanger the existence of any such right; and in the event of any such threat what action may be needed and can be taken to protect that right pending the reopening of the bridge.

Baroness STEDMAN

I am informed that the Port of London Authority, who own the bridge, closed it in May 1976. I am afraid that the remainder of the noble Lord's Question is not a matter for Her Majesty's Government, but for the Port of London Authority to whom I suggest he directs his inquiries.
