§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsI and my predecessor have received general representations, since the beginning of July last, many of which refer to hardship, from 11 national bodies and from a number of student unions, about 130 individual 153W letters, and a good many duplicated letters.
§ Mr. Ian Stewartasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether discussions were had with overseas Governments involved before increasing the fees for overseas students on courses of advanced further education with effect from September 1977.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsThe recommendations on fees were made after consulting colleagues responsible for overseas Departments. Overseas Governments also made both direct and indirect representations.
