Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in the Official Report those local councils which are suspending their mortgages advance schemes for 1977–78.

Mr. Armstrong

Of the local authorities which have received mortgage lending allocations for 1977–78, only Derbyshire County Council and Beaconsfield District Council have indicated that they intend to suspend their mortgage advances schemes during 1977–78.

Mr. Gow

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will publish a list of the rates of interest currently being charged by local authorities in respect of loans made by them to those buying their homes on mortgage.
