§ 18. Mr. Cohenasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how long it will take to effect the proposals to change the examination procedures in the education system in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. CarterI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the Government's decision to introduce new arrangements for the transfer of pupils from primary to secondary education in place of the existing formal selection procedure. As announced by my noble Friend the Minister of State, Lord Melchett, in the statement he made on 15th June, the new arrangements will be introduced for the transfer of pupils in September 1978.
