HC Deb 21 June 1977 vol 933 cc397-8W
12. Mr. Canavan

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he can now make an announcement about the new rates of benefits and pensions and their date of implementation.

Mr. Orme

My right hon. Friend did so on 25th May.—[Vol. 932, c. 1399–1418.] Subject to the necessary order, which was laid before the House last week, being approved, benefits will be increased from the week beginning 14th November.

15. Mr. Bowden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what recent representations he has received on the uprating of pensions and benefits.

42. Mr. Rost

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received concerning his proposals for the uprating of pensions and benefits.

Mr. Orme

We have received a number of representations from pensioners' organisations calling for larger increases in pensions and other benefits than those which my right hon. Friend announced in his statement on 25th May—[Vol. 932, c. 1399–1418]—and for an implementation date earlier than November.

27. Mr. Newton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the uprating of pensions and benefits.

31. Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects to make an announcement about an increase in retirement pensions; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Orme

My right hon. Friend did so on 25th May.—[Vol. 932, c. 1399–1418.]
