§ Mr. RowlandsThe current five-year development plan for St. Helena came into operation in 1974. It emphasises the development and exploitation of natural resources, the improvement of amenities and a general increase in self-sufficiency. We shall have a more complete idea of the scope for developing the island's natural resources when the full results of research financed under the plan are available.
