HL Deb 25 January 1977 vol 379 cc461-2WA
Viscount FURNESS

asked Her Majesty's Government:

To state which dates over the recent Christmas and New Year season were deemed to be public holidays incurring the 20p public holiday surcharge for London taxis.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

In accordance with the provisions of the London Cab Order 1975, the following days were regarded as public holidays for this purpose:

  • Saturday 25th December 1976 (Christmas Day)
  • 462
  • Monday 27th December 1975 (Bank holiday)
  • Tuesday, 28th December 1976 (Bank holiday)
  • Saturday 1st January 1977 (New Year's Day)
  • Monday 3rd January 1977 (Bank holiday)
Because the situation was rather complex, special arrangements were made for the organisations representing the London taxi trade and others concerned to be informed.
