HC Deb 24 February 1977 vol 926 c652W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the annual expenditure in each of the last five years on social services training in England and Wales.

Mr. Deakins

I regret that this information is not available but the working party on manpower and training for the social services estimated that, in 1975, the total costs of qualifying courses for social services staff throughout the United Kingdom was about £27 million. About one half of this sum was borne by employers and about one half by the educational sector.
